I can mail my two dimensional work, but some of my bigger canvases, textured pieces, or nature- based pieces would most likely not make it to you in one piece! I can drop off pieces within a certain milage range for a fee. Otherwise, you can pick up your art at an agreed upon location near me (I do not to pick-ups at my home for my own safety).
I have had my fair share of trauma and life stressors, and I believe mental health does not get better unless we can have conversations about it. If I can share my knowledge on tools and resources and it helps even one person out there, it was worth it. You are NOT alone, therapy looks different for everyone, and sometimes talking through something is NOT what we need in the moment. Our bodies store our trauma and art allows for movement, self discovering, and healing. This can sometimes allow for processing to happen more effectively, as both hemispheres are engaged. I personally prefer art therapy or other forms of expressive therapies over talk therapies for my own healing, but you have to find what works best for you and your brain!
I believe our seniors are an ever-growing population with not nearly enough resources and support. For those of you out there who are caring for and supporting our seniors and dementia population, thank you! It is not the easiest work, but it certainly has some beautiful, heartwarming moments.
Starting conversations and sharing resources and knowledge is a good step in bringing attention to a need and pushing for necessary change. Our seniors and dementia folks have so much life, value, and contribution to give to our society, and I want to advocate for their rights and help create opportunities for an improved quality of life for them.
My general thought is, "the more the merrier," but due to limited space, I cannot accept everything. The list below is a good general outline of what I could use for my own work or an art group. Still feel free to ask, even if it is not on the list!
Cardboard- tubes, sheets, etc.
Plastic- tarps, lids, containers, bottles, etc.
Paper- any/all kinds of drawing and painting paper, old greeting cards, playing cards, etc.
Glass or ceramic- tiles or pieces (I can use these for collages and mosaics)
Wood- sticks, scrapes
Nature- old flowers, moss, rocks, bark, leaves, and other plants
